Dear Friends:
Is it possible that Spring is really approaching? Here in Chicagoland, our
weather is warming and the snow is gone-for the moment.
The first 2 weeks of March found us at 2 great preliminary contests!
First, we traveled to Naples, FL, to join Elvis Wayne in his ElvisŪ
Invasion of South Florida. The temperature was 90 degrees and beautiful!
Elvis Wayne and Myra were wonderful hosts and the contest was smooth and
fun. William Stiles was the
winner, with Marc Woodward second. We got to visit with many fans from the
cruise and from our shows in Silver Springs. We can hardly wait to go
back!
Last weekend found us in Toledo, OH, at the Toledo ElvisŪ Fest. Bob and
Michelle Rosencrantz and the Sweet, Sweet Spirit ElvisŪ Fan Club did a
fabulous job! It was great to see DJ Fontana and ElvisŪ's still lovely
co-stars, Cynthia Pepper and Julie Parrish. Dwight Icenhower was the
winner, with Kavan and William Stiles tied for second. Bob and Michelle
worked hard to put on this wonderful event and they deserve a big
"thank-you" from all of us!
Plans are progressing for the 4th Annual ElvisŪ Entertainers Network
Convention! We have changed the dates to July 4th, 5th, and 6th. As usual,
John Paget, from "Almost ElvisŪ," will be there to film the doings. You may
remember that the movie, "The King's Men," was filmed at last year's
Convention. Our Friday night picnic will be on July 4th. My home is in the
middle of several fireworks displays so we will enjoy fireworks all
around!
Saturday night, July 5th, our Sabre Room show will be a contest open to
EEN members with pretty exciting cash prizes. Our judges will be, in
addition to others, Doug Church,
Irv Cass,
Jerome Marion, and
Ronny Craig! Sunday, July 6th,
our great luncheon and showcase will again be at the Empress Casino.
Tickets will go on sale the first week in May!
A note about the war with Iraq -
The last time the USA was in the Gulf, at war, my youngest son, Scott (our
webmaster), and William Stiles were in the thick of things. Perhaps, there
were others of our membership there too. Having experienced the fear and
heartache of having loved ones there, my heart goes out to all who have a
friend or relative there now. Let's all pray for a quick and decisive
victory and bring all our troops home - for good!
Happy Birthday to March celebrants:
Johnny E,
Dennis Kolb,
David Lomond,
Joe Eigo,
Chris Wilson,
Stephen Freeman, and
David Lee. Many, many more, guys! |
