Dear Friends and Fans:
July was so busy, it's the middle of August and I'm just getting to the
Newsletter!
The Ypsilanti ElvisŪ Fest was a huge success! In a few short years, this
Michigan ElvisŪ Fest has become one of the most exciting events of the
summer!
The second week of July, we all traveled to Council Bluffs for the
Bluff's Run Competition. Johnny Ray Gomez treats the ETA's like royalty
and the weekend was wonderful! After the contest, there is a jam
session. This year, it was fantastic. All the ETA's were up on the stage
singing and playing instruments while
Rick Lenzi danced to many
old rock and roll standards. Winners were:
Dwight Icenhower -
1st,
Paul Halverstadt -
2nd,
Irv Cass - 3rd, and Greg Ring
- 4th.
The following weekend was Collingwood!
David Lee made all of us
proud by winning the jumpsuit division with Johnny
Loos in second place. Irv Cass was 2nd in the 50's-60's division. As
usual, the crowds were huge and everyone had a fabulous time.
The last weekend of July, we traveled to New York for
Gene DiNapoli's contest
at the Orange County Fair in Middletown, NY. We met many nice fans there
and Irv even made me ride the "Wild Mouse" - gasp!
One week to rest up and we were on our way to Memphis! What fun to see
old friends and meet new ones! There was magic in the air this year and
the name of that magic was David Lee. It was David's year - start to
finish! David Lee is the 2004 Images of the King World-Wide Champion!
Dwight Icenhower was 2nd and
Todd Martin was 3rd. David earned his title and richly deserved it.
David Lee is the first ETA to win both titles since our own
Ray Guillemette.
Congratulations David!!!
Doc and Jackie Franklin announced that they were turning the Contest
over to Michael and Bobbie Hoover and we wish them the very best in
their new endeavor.
The rest of August will take us to Detroit, MI, for the Profiles of the
King ElvisŪ Fest and Competition, and to Ontario for Brandford's King
Fling.
September will bring Ronny
Craig's
ElvisŪ Explosion in LaCrosse, WI, and Elvistival! in Dewey Beach,
Delaware.
Our Christmas show will be November 27th, the Saturday after
Thanksgiving. This year, the show will star
Matt King,
Jerome Marion, Dwight
Icenhower, Irv Cass, and Johnny Loos. Make your plans to join us in the
fabulous Sabre Room for Christmas with the King. Tickets are now
available at (888) 748-9989.
WGN Superstation came to my home to do an interview with Irv, Ronny,
Jerome and me last Tuesday. It will probably be shown in 2 segments
sometime this month. An article about the EEN came out in Chicago
Magazine's August issue. Check out page 33 - "Pelvis Sightings!"
Very happy birthdays to
Michael Hoover,
Robert Washington and
Brandon Bennett!
Have a wonderful Labor Day!
