Happy 2007!
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!
We kicked off the Christmas season with our annual Christmas with the
King. This year, our stars were
Todd Martin,
Matt King,
Jerome Marion,
Johnny Loos, and
Dwight Icenhower.
What a fantastic job they did! It was one of our finest shows made
even more wonderful by two special guests. Preston Cass and my
grandson, Matthew Fox, graced the Sabre Room with their presence.
Both of the ladies of the band also added to the show by singing solos -
they were great. The Change of Habit outdid themselves and we
loved it! We all loved watching
Ronny Craig sing "Rudolph"
wearing flashing antlers and a blinking red nose!
The following weekend we went north to the Isle of Capri in Marquette,
IA. Justin Edwards,
Todd Martin and Irv Cass put on
6 different fantastic shows on Friday and Saturday nights. The
crowds were wonderful and we loved having Anthony and the Guitar Street
Orchestra to back up these 3 great ETA's. D'Arcy Park sang several
solos that brought down the house.
Early in December, I got an emergency telephone call from Florida.
My Mother's doctor had decided that she could no longer live
independently. I flew down immediately and, with the help of Marie
White, my dear friend, sold Mom's house and car, packed her belongings,
and brought her and her dog home to Chicagoland. We got home just
in time for Christmas! Although the cold is hard for her, she is
adjusting and I love having her with me. I did not think to
forward my phone when I left - so - I apologize to anyone who left
messages or were told that my mailbox was full.
Elvis' birthday brought our annual Elvis®
Fest at the Original Mother's in Chicago. This is a fabulous old
speakeasy with a colorful history. I was told that both Mr T and
Mike Tyson began their careers here as bouncers! Anyway, Jerome
Marion, Dennis Stella,
Jerry D, Curt Lechner and
Ed Parzygnat entertained the
"standing room only" crowd throughout the evening. We have already
been invited back next year!
On January 20, we leave on our annual Elvis®
Cruise. This year, we will visit Jamaica and Grand Cayman and, for
5 days, be entertained by Irv Cass,
Robert Washington,
Dwight Icenhower, Quentin Flagg,
and Ronny Craig. Patti
Parry and Steve Christopher will also be on board and we look
forward to seeing them too!
The second weekend in February will bring us
Lou Vuto's Pigeon Forge ETA
Contest. It will be wonderful to see Lou, one of the nicest men in
the ETA world. He has some exciting plans for the weekend and we
look forward to being there. The dates are February 9-11, 2007.
February 24, Elvis®
Meets Rod Stewart at the Empress Casino in Joliet, IL.
Irv Cass and Steve Bobbitt will rock the house to benefit the Marine
Corp League. This will be a great show!
The
exciting news for 2007 is, of course, that Elvis Presley Enterprises has
decided to recognize the ETA's. There are lots of mixed feelings
flying around the Internet; however, I think it's great! Surely
there will be some adjustments on both sides - but - in the long run, we
are better off working with EPE.
Have
a wonderful 2007!
